Steve and I were actually set up on a blind date by a lady I worked with. Steve had recently moved back into the area and she though we would really hit it off. I reluctantly agreed as I had not had much luck with previous blind dates. We met at Smokey Bones for dinner. It was a Tuesday and I still remember what he was wearing. I could hardly eat I was so nervous! I thought he was the cutest nicest guy I'd ever met. After dinner, he asked what I usually do on a Tuesday night. I said I sometimes go to Barnes and Noble to have coffee and look at books. He said we should go do that! So we did! In the store, my friend Brianne called for make sure I was having a good time and asked if she should fake an emergency if needed to get out of the date. I told her it seemed like he wanted the date to last a little longer and we were having a good time. Steve and I eventually said goodnight but I remember leaving that date and thinking he would be nice to marry one day. A month later I asked him if it would be alright if I called him my boyfriend (I kind of felt like I was in high school at that moment) and he happily agreed :)
Fast forward 7 years, thousands of laughs and numerous games of mini golf later, Christmas 2016: I had come home late after dinner and drinks with a friend. The lights were off in the house so I assumed Steve had gone to bed. I opened the door and as the light from the porch reflected into the house, I could see Steve "sitting" in the middle of the floor. Instead of flipping on the light, I asked him "Why are you sitting in the middle if the floor the dark?" His response "Turn on the light". Not satisfied with that response, I proceeded to ask him two more times what he was doing. I eventually turned on the light as I saw he was getting slightly irritated. Much to my surprise, he wasn't sitting on the floor, but he was kneeling with a ring in his hand!
